Riga Night Brussels

Locomotion for party animals:
the finest electronic dance music and visuals from Riga

On September 6 an abandoned beer brewery in Brussels will host performances by DJ’s, music producers and video artists hailing from the city of Riga. All of them are well-known activists in the Latvian electronic music and clubbing scene. The event is an attempt to recreate the groove and feel of Riga’s nightlife put in different cultural and geographical context.

On two stages there will be a live music performance by Martinez Gonzales, as well as specially prepared DJ sets by Ivars Mednis, DJ Dmitri and DJ Hencha. Music will be accompanied by visuals from VJs Linards Kulless and Ginta Tinte. Besides, during the night a showcase of Latvian contemporary films and animations will take place.

All these performing artists to some extent are connected to Andrejsala – a district in Riga which has been temporarily given away to various art projects, thus providing a very positive impact on the city’s culture scene. More specifically, the participants are interconnected through such projects as Fuck For Friendship collective, Space:Garage club and artists residence Singalong.

LIVE: Martinez Gonzales electronic blues and melodies to die for

He is a critically acclaimed music producer and keyboardist, who’s been a member of numerous Latvian bands but at the moment composing on his own. His music style is harmonic yet highly original blend of different music genres, sometimes described as “electronic blues”. Martinez Gonzales’ last album “Dakstiņš” has been released by Lagunamuch Community — a music label from Russia.
